OVERVIEW

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is the use of computer software to digitally create drawings, profiles, parts and
assemblies.  Our software packages include 2D vector based programs, as well as 3D solid and surface
modelling applications.

CAD enables us here at One.61 to lay-out and develop work on screen and save it for future editing, saving

time on drawings and speeding up design development cycles.

2D CAD is utilised for CNC profiles, extrusion design, and as a virtual sketch pad.

The next level is 3D CAD.  Complex parts and assemblies, as well as sheet-metal developments and weldments

can be developed.

We can analyse the properties of a 3D component or assembly and will commonly detail and dimension them

as Manufacturing and Fabrication drawing sets.

With a wide compatibility of digital data across various 2D and 3D software platforms our options are unlimited

within the entire digital manufacturing world.

PARTS + ASSEMBLIES

one.61

This chair assembly consists of 20 individual parts. The parts range

from Aluminium die-casts, injection moulded components, fabric profiles,

welded steel framing and catalogued products & fasteners. The parts are

able to be assembled and the relationships between them can be studied

to ensure smart and efficient design decisions.

one.61

The same 3D files used for the initial design and revisions are carried

through the entire product development process – from drawings and

presentations through to prototyping and production.

FABRICATION DRAWINGS

one.61

Detailed fabrication drawings are the vital communication link between

design and manufacturing.  One.61 drawings are derived from 3D CAD

models allowing every detail of a design to be resolved in 3D. The 2D

drawing views are projected from the virtual link to the 3D model.

one.61

The 2D views can be shown in various levels of representation including

sectioned, detailed and exploded views. Critical dimensions and

annotations can be added to define all aspects of a part.

one.61

Any revisions are then made to the 3D model which automatically

updates the respective views on the drawing sheet.  This provides a fast

and seamless documentation of the entire design and manufacturing

process.

3D MODEL ANALYSIS

one.61

Once a 3D model is resolved we carry out a complex analysis of materials

and apply loads/forces to determine whether the engineering of a

component is sound. This often proves beneficial in determining whether

a component is over or under engineered, leading to necessary technical

revisions.

one.61

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a growing tool in the product design

industry and by implementing it; we continue to reach and exceed our

clients and manufacturers expectations.

3D RENDERING

one.61

3D rendering allows us to show representations

of components and assemblies that could not

be replicated through a camera lens.  Cut-away

and exploded views are often all that is required

to allow clients or consumers to visualize and

fully interpret certain aspects of a design.

CATALOGUES AND INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL

one.61

Communication of material is very simple for

product catalogues and instruction manuals.

We can create dimensionally accurate line

drawings of components from 3D CAD that can

be inserted into publications and easily edited.

Fitting instructions are clear and precise

through the use of simple step by step

explosions of assembly views.  Where required

we can add photos or renders for clarity and

are fully capable of word processing and

formatting in-house.
