       New Zealand's Largest FDM machine

OVERVIEW

Rapid Prototyping is a technology that creates physical components from 3D CAD data.  These
components can be used for a wide range of applications from aesthetic verification to functional
testing.

Here at One.61, most of our Rapid Prototyping services use an "additive" type fabrication. By laying
the material down in layers 3D models are built that consist of numerous cross-sectional profiles.
Other more traditional processes use a "subtractive" type fabrication that remove material from an
existing solid material.  An example of this is CNC machining.

We provide components of strength, accuracy and durability.  Our in-house FDM machine has the
largest capacity of any RP machine in New Zealand allowing us to build several components at a
time and maximize productivity.

RP SERVICES

FUSE DEPOSITION MODELLING (FDM) builds models layer by layer by extruding a plastic filament through a heated tip. As
the model is built the layers fuse and harden resulting in a very functional prototype.  Materials range from ABS material
which has a very general application to PC/ABS and PC (Polycarbonate) which are notably stronger and more versatile.

VACUUM CASTING is a low volume production technique which involves casting polyurethane resins under vacuum into a
silicone rubber mould.  Production quality mouldings are achievable in a range of colours including clear and tinted.

COMPUTER NUMERAL CONTROL (CNC) machining is a Subtractive technology used for machining prototypes out of a block
of material or to post-machine existing components to achieve a desired accuracy or finish.  It is also highly suitable for
tools for low-volume production injection moulding.

SILICONE MOULDING is a method for producing silicone components from either rigid “male” moulds or a soft “female”
mould.  This method allows production of a range of harness’s as well as food grade options.  It is an excellent option
for low volume production runs.

ELECTRIC GUITAR

This unique electric guitar has been designed and manufactured
entirely by One.61 Ltd.  Utilising our FDM technology, the body for
this custom designed guitar can be manufactured in one part –
free from all constraints associated with standard fabrication and
manufacturing technologies.

DIRECT DIGITAL MANUFACTURING

Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) allows us to design and manufacture products and components directly from 3D CAD software. The parts are designed and analysed

in associated software and then built as a DDM component.

The primary advantage is the cost-saving that arises from elimination of tooling. This also eliminates inventory stockpiling allowing true ‘on demand’ production. DDM

gives almost unlimited geometric freedom. It is possible to produce batches of complex components in a short time-frame which enables companies to release limited

run products and produce pre-production samples.

3D modelling requires identifying and addressing design considerations that are unique to this process. They will ensure that the optimum strength and durability is

obtained for the final DDM component(s).

Due to strength of the materials and the characteristics of the building process the DDM parts are ready for immediate use in a fully functional environment.
